UPDATE - Haida Gwaii

JP and I went to Haida Gwaii for September Long Weekend.

‎"Don't step back; continue to look forward. It's just a matter of asking. Always remember, tough times don't last, tough people do: Gin sijiii guusu kwaangang nang xaadaduu dagwiiadgang."
- khlgulaa, William Ross Jr. (1926-2010)- Haida elder.

We stayed in Queen Charlotte Town the whole time. But we visited the Haida Gwaii Cultural Centre, and then we checked out "BALANCE ROCK". It's extra balance-y.

It was kind of lonely feeling up in Haida Gwaii, I'm not going to lie. It was rainy and quiet and I guess I'm a big city slicker when it comes down to it. But maybe not. I just like creature comforts. Had we rented a secluded cabin and I had endless amounts of art supplies and a stereo for music and things. It might have been the place of my dreams. I do love the ocean. Open ocean the most.

It rained most days, but one day it was mostly clear skies so we hiked (four hours) to the Pesuta ShipWreck. It was amazing and very strange...

We drove up to Masset, it was very quiet because it was a holiday and nearly everything was closed. We went to a bakery and these three wind-worn women were rolling a joint and sheepishly looked at us when we walked by. It was kind of adorable. There was no where to buy lunch, so I bought 2 chocolate cookies from this house that was converted into a tiny lil' bakery.

Past Masset, we went to North Beach. On clear days, you can see across the ocean and the tiny lights in the distance are from Alaska. It's the farthest North I've ever been.
